See: https://github.com/dylanaraps/neofetch/issues/2195

https://github.com/hykilpikonna/hyfetch/pull/24 and https://github.com/termux/termux-packages/issues/12212 each seem to have come to roughly the same solution, which is to fix the output in a particular part of neofetch's script.

Applying the change shown in this GitHub comment worked like a charm, however I don't have a good way to check for this currently. I suspect writing a patch or diff file of sorts could do the trick, so long as it would not re-apply itself to the already-patched script.

For the time being, I've opened https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1027944 against the Debian package as I feel it's more likely that this bug gets fixed there than in upstream.

This seems to be working fine since updating Debian to Bookworm (version 12), though I'm not sure why as the neofetch source did not change. Perhaps this was a bash bug that was fixed?

Anyways, since this is seemingly not an issue anymore, closing this issue.
